Preparing before the treatment

Preparation largely determines the result. The good news: it is simpler than people expect. We do not ask you to empty your home or throw out your furniture.

Before our visit

• Strip sheets, covers and pillowcases, and wash them on high heat (see below).
• Vacuum around the beds, along the baseboards and over fabrics, then discard the bag in a sealed bag outside.
• Clear a working space of about 30 cm around beds and along the walls of the rooms to be treated.
• Empty the drawers of night tables and dressers in the bedroom, leaving the contents in sealed bags on site.
• Pick up what is on the floor: clothes, bags, toys, papers.
• Tell the technician about any room where you have seen something, even in passing.

What not to do

• Do not spray any over-the-counter product: it scatters bed bugs and complicates the intervention.
• Do not throw out the mattress or furniture before speaking to the technician.
• Do not move the bedroom's belongings into the living room or another room.
• Do not go and sleep on the couch: bed bugs will follow and a second area will need treating.
• Do not wash walls with greasy or oily products the day before.

Laundry, in practice

Wash bedding and clothing from the affected areas on the hottest cycle the fabric tolerates, then tumble dry on high heat for at least thirty minutes. It is the dryer's heat that does the work. Then store the clean laundry in sealed bags until the intervention is complete.

On the day

Plan to be able to leave the treated rooms for the time the technician indicates. Mention in advance any young children, elderly people, people with allergies, pets or an aquarium: it changes certain precautions.
